Cousins Abe Golshirazian and Nejat Rahmani immigrated to the United States from Iran in the 1970s in pursuit of a better life. After settling in Boston, they learned English, worked a variety of jobs, earned engineering degrees, and eventually set out to build a business of their own.

With no prior experience in packaging, Abe and Nejat purchased a small plastic bag manufacturing company in Brooklyn, NY. The business operated from a 1,200-square-foot space with a single machine, and they handled nearly every aspect of the operation themselves. Through persistence, hard work, and years of direct customer outreach, they steadily grew the company and eventually relocated to a larger facility in Oceanside, NY, where Josh Packaging expanded into printed flexible packaging.

In 2008, continued growth led to another major step forward: a move into a 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Hauppauge, NY. The larger operation allowed Josh Packaging to invest in more advanced technology, expand its capabilities, and provide increasingly sophisticated custom packaging solutions to customers across the country.

The next generation began joining the family business in 2015, when Abe’s two youngest sons came on board to help modernize the company. In 2021, Nejat’s son and Abe’s two older sons joined as well, continuing the legacy Abe and Nejat had built.

Today, Josh Packaging has grown from a one-machine operation into a state-of-the-art flexible packaging manufacturer serving customers nationwide. While the company has changed dramatically over the years, the principles behind it have remained the same: advanced manufacturing, dependable service, strong relationships, and a commitment to treating customers like family.

More than 35 years later, Josh Packaging remains proudly family-owned and operated, carrying forward the legacy Abe and Nejat started and continuing to build for the next generation.
